Mead-for-blood lurks
underskin
winefloods in your eyes.

Voice, your song
in my throat long after
the leaves, the snow, the saplings
have filled, chilled, greened
your footprints.

I’ve been in love with a song, a long time now. And then I found this cover:

and knew I had to respond.  The original still chills and pains me more, but Thomas’s gets me further in the gut.  Each to its own.
