Ekphrastic 7/A Study in Aphroxology

Let me show you this place
perhaps you remember it
there’s this blood like nectar
seeps up from mango stems

(I am so bitter
when you leave me
feet fro
zen in the ice
and an abominable no-man bites through the mountain)

Golden is the color of dead leaves, wet by rain
here, taste it.
Can I shove it in your mouth?
Will you swallow it?
Remember it.

Just—forget it.

[Ekphrasis is art in reaction to art. Basically. And I don’t think about the art I consume enough. And I haven’t been writing poetry as much as I should. So every Friday, I’ll post an ekphrastic poem about whatever art I’ve been eating lately (books, poetry, anime, paintings, films, so on).]
